Monitoring   of   progress   and    review   of programmes    known    as    Twenty    Point Programmes (TPP) consists of 119 items out of which 54 are monitored on the basis of evaluatory criteria and 65 against pre-set physical targets.   Of the latter, 20 important items have been selected for monitoring on a monthly basis.

The performance of 11  key infrastructure sectors viz.,  Power, Coal, Steel, Railways, Telecommunications,      Ports,      Fertilizers,  Cement, Petroleum & Natural Gas, Roads, and Civil Aviation with reference to the pre­set targets is monitored each month.

Central Sector Projects costing Rs. 20 crore and above - 16 sectors are monitored on monthly and quarterly basis to ensure timely completion of projects. In addition, irrigation projects which are being financed centrally under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) are also monitored on six monthly basis.
