INTERNATIONAL TRAINING

International Training Programme for ISEC Participants: - NSSTA also Conducts 6 week training in official statistics for the International Statistical Education Center (ISEC) participants sponsored by ISI, Kolkata. The participants for this programme are from developing countries. The main purpose of this course is to provide the exposure in theoretical and applied statistics at various levels to the selected participants from countries from middle -east, South and South - East Asia , the far East and from Commonwealth countries in Africa. Most of the candidates are officials who have experience in Statistical work, a few are teachers, and research workers in statistics from universities and other institutions, and the remaining ones are officials in non-statistical field, desiring to acquire knowledge in statistics. Around 18 to 20 participants join this programme from different countries every year.

Training for SAARC and Other Developing Countries:- Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation(MoSPI) is the nodal agency for capacity development of statistical personnel for the SAARC member States. Specialized Statistical Training courses on statistical methodology and official statistical system for statisticians from SAARC and Other Developing Countries. NSSTA organizes specialized statistical training courses on Statistical Methodology and Official Statistical System for Staticians from SAARC and other Developing Countries, as per the needs identified by SAARCSTAT and other Countries.

Partnership with Other Countries/International Organizations: Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation(MoSPI) has also entered into agreements with various Countries International Organizations other than SAARC for capacity development of their statistical personnel. Under these agreements, the training programmes are either conducted at NSSTA or other institutions in India Short term i.e. one-two week training programmes and study visits for the statistical personnel/ participants from Countries in ASIA and the Pacific(SIAP), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific(UNESCAP) . Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). World Bank or the National Statistical Offices (NSOs) of the countries. MoSPI also provides support/ facilitates conducting the training programmes in the developing countries on request.

Achievements in International Training:- MoU was signed between Central Statistics Organization. Afghanistan and MoSPI on 30 May, 2011 which ended in December, 2013. During 2012 and 2013. nine customized training programmes were organized for officers of CSO Afghanistan which was supported by UNDP Afghanistan under its National Institution Building Project(NIBP). One programme on "National Strategies of Development of Statistics" with support of Paris-21 for senior official of the Goverment of Afghanistan was conducted at NSSTA wherein a total of 13 participants from Afghanistan, 2 Indian Participants and guest faculties from Paris-21 attended/organised the training programme during September 7-10, 2015. An agreement has been signed with Statistical Institute of Asia and Pacific(SIAP) for conducting training programmes for Government officials / Statisticians of Countries from Asia and the Pacific Region of NSSTA. In this Context. training on Statistical Quality Management was scheduled during 27-28, Nov 2014. MoU between the Eastern African Statistical Training Centre(EASTC) of Tanzania and National Statistical Systems Training Academy(NSSTA) on establishing a collaborative programme in official statistics was signed on 19th June at New Delhi.
