Shareable data

(Category B: Registered and/or Restricted Data)

Sub-group level indices of Minor States (having population less than 50 lakhs as per the Population Census 2011)

This is restricted since sample size in minor states are very small, which leads to high fluctuation.

Non-Shareable data

 (Negative list)

Shop/Outlet level price data

Specification of an item has been prepared by taking into account the popularity of the item in the selected market (Rural/Urban) and buying behavior of the consumer. Due to this, the specification of a particular item may vary from market to market. Hence, it is not possible to establish a link between items and its respective price across markets. The issue of providing unit level data was referred to the Technical Advisory Committee on Statistics of Prices and Cost of Living (TAC on SPCL).The Committee did not favour dissemination of unit level price data since there may be wide variations in prices especially for perishable items (eg. Vegetables, fruits etc. whose prices vary with time of collection also) across outlets which may cause confusion amongst the users.
