Computer Center was set up in 1967 under the then Department of Statistics in the Cabinet Secretariat to meet the data processing needs of various Government Ministries/Departments/Organizations and Public Sector Undertakings located in and around Delhi. Computer Centre is headed by Additional Director General. The Center now works on mainly on cloud based IT infrastructure. The Center also has servers located in the premise on which few of the applications are hosted.
Some of the important functions of Computer Centre are as follows:-
- Design, Development and Maintenance of the Ministry’s website
- CPI – Processing of pricing data, Compilation of Index and uploading monthly index on web portal
- Data Documentation, Archiving & Dissemination in International standard using IHSN toolkit.
- Providing NIC Cloud Services (Meghraj) for hosting and maintenance of the applications / portals to divisions of Ministry.
- Transformation of National Accounts data into Statistical Data Metadata Exchange (SDMX) format.
- Conducting IT Training.
