As Secretary, MoSPI, Dr. Saurabh Garg is leading the reform process of the Indian Statistical System, that includes coordinated development of the official statistical system at the Centre and the State level.
He has more than thirty years of experience as an IAS officer and has served in various positions at the state, national and international levels in the areas of digitalization of agriculture, digital identities, direct benefit transfer schemes, infrastructure, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policies and urban development.
Previously, he has served as Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and Chief Executive Officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Dr. Garg has served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs and Department of Expenditure and as Advisor to the Executive Director, World Bank.
