Conference of Central & State Statistical Organizations (COCSSO)

In order to strengthen the coordination of statistical activities among the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, other Central Ministries and State Statistical Organisations, the Conference of Central and State Statistical Organisations (COCSSO) was organized for the first time in the year 1971. Earlier it was supposed to be organized once in every two years. keeping in view the usefulness of the Conference, it has now been decided to have it every year.

To review the role of the Statistical Advisers in the Central and States/UT Governments

To provide an overall perspective to the development of statistical system and to make recommendations/suggestions on issues having bearing on the development of the statistical system

The Standing Committee for COCSSO, to be constituted every year, would have the following constitution:

Mandate for the Standing Committee

To consider all matters associated with the organization of COCSSO including finalization of Agenda and other technical details

To finalize the action plan and monitoring of the follow-up action on the decisions taken by COCSSO

3

To bring improvement in the Statistical System in the Country

4

To strengthen the coordination of statistical activities between Centre and State/UTs, and; between the MOSPI and different Central Ministries/Departments

5

To deliberate on any other matter having bearing on the development of the Statistical System at the Centre and in the States.
