MoSPI conducts Training/Workshop/Seminars/Conferences on SDGs inter-alia to assist the States/UTs in developing the State Indicator Framework (SIF), to deliberate on the concept and methodology on certain SDG indicators, brainstorming with different stakeholders and creating awareness on SDGs.
MoSPI successfully conducted the following trainings and workshops
MoSPI successfully conducted Five regional workshop during year 2018-19 covering all 36 States/UT’s in collaboration with UNICEF to sensitize States about SDGs, development of State Monitoring Framework and capacity building of State Statistical Personnel on SDGs.
MoSPI has also conducted sensitization programme for Universities/Colleges students for understanding of SDG monitoring framework.
Annual Conference of Central and State Statistical Organizations (COCSSO) was conducted by MoSPI with central theme as SDGs during 11th-12th November 2019 at Kolkata. The States/UTs were provided technical support for development of State/District Indicator Framework on SDG for monitoring of SDGs at State/UT and sub-state level.
Eighth International Conference on Agricultural Statistics 2019 (ICAS-VIII) with Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and ICAR-IASRI and others in New Delhi during November, 18-21, 2019 at New Delhi.

A nationwide Multiple Indicator Survey (MIS), as a part of 78th Round of National Sample Survey (NSS), to bridge data gaps on national as well as global SDG indicators is being carried out. MIS will be repeated every three years, to cater to data requirement of number of SDG national as well as global indicators.
The 78th Round of NSS (January – December 2020) is devoted to the subjects of (i) Domestic Tourism Expenditure and (ii) Multiple Indicator Survey. Multiple Indicators Survey (MIS) is being conducted for the first time in NSS for providing estimates relating to some important indicators of Sustainable Development Goals.
For the first time in NSS, a Questionnaire format is being used for collection of data in NSS 78th round instead of the conventional schedule format. The Collection of data for the central sample is being done through Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) method.
The survey commenced from 1st January 2020. The Social Statistics Division of MoSPI assisted field offices of NSO in imparting training to field staff on MIS.
To further publicize the goals and targets, MoSPI declared SDGs as the theme for National Statistics Day for the year 2019, which is celebrated on 29th June every year to mark the birth anniversary of Late Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis and in recognition of his valuable contribution in the field of Economic Planning and Statistics.
The theme for the Statistics Day for the year 2020 isselected on SDGs related to Health (SDG-3) and Gender (SDG-5).
MoSPI has developed documentary film on SDGs in Hindi and dubbed it in English and 15 other regional languages.
